M6 Corley Junctions 2 – 4

The Project

Further to previous successful works on Highway England, Smart Motorway Schemes for Balfour Beatty / Vinci JV, NRC were invited to tender for the M6 Junction 2 – 4 Smart Motorway, all lanes running scheme in a known traffic hotspot.

Upon a successful tender bid process the works were awarded to NRC and works commenced April 2018 and are still currently ongoing.

 

Scope of Work

Upon Award of the contract NRC presented the client with a fully detailed Works Package Plan for each aspect of our works including but not limited to; Confined Space Entry, Over-pumping, Excavation, UV Lining, Precision Cutting, Patch Lining, and HADDMS.

Following approval of our Works Package Plan from the main client, we commenced with our mobilisation to site. The mobilisation involved delivery of plant and materials. This initial set up was undertaken by our Contracts Manager and site operatives prior to undertaking the main contract works two weeks later.

The scope of works was to undertake a full pre-construction CCTV survey to un-surveyed lengths of drainage to identify defects within the drainage network, and then offer a remedial solution for repair. NRC then commenced repairs by way of no dig techniques such as Patch lining and UV lining.

More severely damaged pipes such as collapsed pipes where repaired by excavation methods. Upon completion of repair works, a post repair CCTV was carried out to prove the repair, and CCTV footage passed to client for quality inspection.

To date NRC have installed over 750 patch line repairs and remediated over 1650lm of pipe work by way of excavation.

Our CCTV teams on this project work very closely with the project designers and our speedy turnaround on delivering vital CCTV information has been praised by the client, as this is a crucial element in assisting designers with their project construction designs.

Upon completion of all site wide construction activities, NRC will be solely responsible for delivering a HADDMS compliant drainage network model with full structural CCTV survey to enable our client to achieve practical completion of the project.

The HADDMS specification includes a full drainage asset inventory utilising GPS coordinates to deliver a as built drainage model to our client
